Gaza: 10 people injured after air strike in Khan Younis

Although a ceasefire has been officially in effect since October 2025, the Israeli armed forces attack targets in the Gaza Strip almost daily. Yesterday, during an airstrike in the immediate vicinity of a health facility run by Doctors Without Borders, numerous people were injured.

Statement by Fadi Husam, MSF nursing team supervisor for Khan Younis emergency department:

“Yesterday morning [23 September], there was a huge Israeli airstrike very close to our clinic in Khan Younis, 10 people who were injured came to our emergency department where our team all stepped in to support in the response. Among them was a 32-year-old man in critical condition, with multiple shrapnel wounds to his face and neck, as well as other injuries. A seven-year-old child also arrived with multiple shrapnel wounds caused by the force of the explosion. ​

We all felt scared when we heard the sound of explosions, we all have families who live close to the site of the explosion and we were worried about them. But as a medical team, the patient comes first and we provided the best care for all cases. Over the course of an hour, we stabilised all of the patients and referred them to Nasser hospital for further treatment. ​ ​

We were glad we managed to treat the people who were injured yesterday, but every healthcare facility in Gaza is overwhelmed because of the Israeli restrictions on supply. We are short of even the most basic medicines and equipment such as gauze and at any moment generators can break down because of the lack of engine oil and spare parts. We desperately need to see more medical and logistic supplies enter Gaza."
