MSF mourns the killing of eleventh colleague in Gaza

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is appalled and saddened by the killing of our colleague Hussam Al Loulou by an airstrike on the morning of 1 April in southwest of Deir Al Balah, Central Gaza. His wife and 28-year-old daughter were also killed in this horrendous attack.

Our colleague Hussam was killed along with hundreds of others across the Gaza Strip since the resumption of attacks by Israeli forces on 18 March. This is the second killing of an MSF colleague in just two weeks.

Hussam joined MSF in December 2024 as a watchman at the MSF Urgent Care Unit in Khan Younis. He was 58 years old. Hussam was known for his selflessness, humility, and genuine care for those around him. He is survived by two sons. In this tragic moment, our thoughts are with his family, and all our colleagues in Gaza with whom we mourn his death and stand during these extremely difficult moments.

Hussam is the eleventh MSF colleague to be killed since the war started in Gaza. We strongly condemn his killing and call yet again for the immediate restoration of the ceasefire and protection of civilians. This bloodshed needs to end.
